Glossodia is located 68 kilometers north west of the Sydney central business district; it is in the local government area of the City of Hawkesbury. This semi rural suburb of Sydney has been named Glossodia the name originating from a genius of mostly purple coloured orchids from Australia that grow in this area. This small township is home to the Glossodia Public School. There is also a day care centre, a shopping centre and some soccer/playing fields all of which are within walking distance from the school.
The small community of Glossodia is bordered by the neighbouring suburbs of East Kurrajong, The Slopes and Tennyson. It is also home to the Freemans Reach Training Track sporting facility. There are also parks, bushland, recreation facilities at Woodberry Reserve, Bulls Ridge and Glossodia Park. It is a residential area, with no industry or high rise developments.
