Glenfield Taxi

Glenfield is located 40 kilometers south west of the Sydney central business district; it is in the local government area of the City of Liverpool and is part of the Macarthur region.

Glenfield was named after Glenfield in Leicestershire, England. It was named by Charles Throsby a colonial surgeon and explorer. He called his property Glenfield after his family home. Many of the streets here have links to British names such as Trafalgar Street Cambridge Avenue and Canterbury Road.

When the railway was built in 1869 the Name Glenfield was used to name the railway station. A village didn’t start to develop until 1881 when the first subdivision of paddocks was marked. A public school inside a tent opened in 1882, and a post office opened in 1899 but the township didn’t start to develop till the 1950′s and 1960′s. It is surrounded by Prestons, Edmondson Park, Macquarie Links, Casula, Moorebank, Holsworthy and Macquarie Fields.
