Erskine Park is located 42 kilometers west of the Sydney central business district; it is in the local government area of the City of Penrith and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. Erskine Park has been named after James Erskine the Lieutenant Governor to Lachlan Macquarie who was granted land in this area in the early days of the colony. The local school James Erskine Public School has been named in his honor.
Erskine Park is a growing suburb, mostly a residential area with some industrial areas. There is a high school, shops including a supermarket, gourmet deli, pharmacy, confectionary store, pizzeria, and an Aldi supermarket. There is an industrial area on the southern outskirts of the suburb known as the Erskine Business Park containing warehouses for companies such as DHL Supply Chain, Koorong Bookstore, Hasbro, Woolworths Liquor distribution centre and BlueScope Steel.
