East Hills was the name used to describe the area of land south of Bankstown to the George’s River and east to the River Road. George Johnstone (1790-1820) who was granted land here in 1804 called it New Jerusalem. In 1931 the railway station was opened and was the terminating station till 1987 when the line was extended to a new station at Holsworthy.
