Following European settlement many new areas were established to the south west of Sydney to cater for the growing food needs of the colony. The land around such settlements was usually given away as land grants for people to establish farms. 100 acres was given to Thomas Clarkson an ex-convict turned businessman and banker. He established Woodland Grove which covered not only present day Eagle Vale, but most of the surrounding suburbs. In 1826 the property was sold and new owner Jemima Jenkins changed the name to Eagle Farm using the address Eagle Farm, Eagle Vale the name Eagle Vale originated from the two creeks that ran though the property Eagle Creek and Valebrook.
