Doonside Taxi

Doonside is located 40 kilometers west of the Sydney central business district, it is a part of the area known as the Greater Western Sydney region and it is under the local government area of the City of Blacktown.

The area was first known as Hill End named by early settler Robert Crawford (1799-1848) when he received his 2000 acre land grant. Later the area became known as Crawford, but by the time the railway station was built on his land it had been changed to Doonside in honor of his father’s estate in Scotland. An aboriginal name had been first used during the construction of the railway station Wolkara which was also used to name the Post Office that was opened in 1921, but in April 1929 it was decided to change it to Doonside.

Two popular tourist attractions in Doonside are the Nurragingy Nature Reserve and the Featherdale Wildlife Park.
