Condell Park is located 22 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district. Condell Park was titled after Mr. Ousley Condell, who was an engineer and arrived on 8 May 1829 on the barque Swiftsure with 13 other settlers. Black Charlie’s Hill a local landmark- was so named after a local identity that went under the nickname ‘Black Charlie’.He lived near Edgar Street during the early 1900s, and grew vegetables that he carried to the market by horse and cart. Black Charlie was said to fire a shot each evening at exactly 9pm, however the reason for it still remains a mystery.
