Berowra is located 40 kilometers north of the Sydney central business district and is a suburb of northern Sydney. It is under the local government area of Hornsby Shire and is situated east of Berowra and north east of Berowra Heights.
Berowra gets its name from an Aboriginal word meaning Place of many winds.
Located on Berowra creek which is one of the tributaries flowing in from the Hawkesbury River; a toll free car ferry the Berowra Waters Ferry – connects the west and east banks with steep winding roads permitting car access on both sides. The Berowra Waters Inn was designed by architect Glenn Murcutt. Surrounding suburbs include Berrilee, Berowra and Berowra Heights.Visitors flock especially in summer to the Berowra Waters Marina to hire a boat or for a relaxing lunch at the Waterside Restaurant.
