Bass hill was previously famous as Irish Town blaming the Irish settlements. Before becoming official known, it was also called as Upper Bankstown. It was formally known as Bass Hill in 1924. Bass Hill was completely developed in the year 1814.
Bass Hill comes beneath the local arenas of the City of Bankstown. It is considered a part of south west Sydney region. Named after George Bass, a surgeon and explorer, it is located 23 kilometres south west to the Sydney CBD.
