The Sydney suburb was named after the then Prime Minister of England, Herbert Henry Asquith, Earl of Oxford and Asquith in 1915. Located 26 kilometres North West to the central business district of Sydney, Asquith is surrounded by many suburbs including Hornsby, Hornsby Heights, Mount Colah, North Turramurra, Waitara and North Wahroonga.
The railway station to Asquith is located on the city rail networks Main north line. The suburb saw the opening of post offices and schools in years 1924 and 1930.
